How to solve a Crossclimb puzzle
Answer the five trivia clues — each is a common word the same length as the others. Then order the rungs so every neighboring pair of words differs by exactly one letter in one position. When the ladder is right, the locked top and bottom rungs open with a single combined clue describing both words. New to the game? Because unlimited mode hands you a brand-new ladder every time, it is the fastest way to drill the one-letter-neighbor logic until it becomes automatic — answer a few back-to-back and the forced pairings start jumping out faster. What is Unlimited mode?
Unlimited mode serves a freshly generated Crossclimb trivia word-ladder puzzle. Solve it, then press New puzzle for another — there is no limit on how many you can play.
How is Unlimited different from the daily puzzle?
The daily puzzle is one shared ladder that is the same for every player and only changes once a day. Unlimited generates a brand-new random ladder each time you load the page or press New puzzle, so no two visits give you the same puzzle unless you share a specific link. Unlimited solves also do not count toward your daily streak or the leaderboard — those track the daily puzzle only.
Does my progress save in Unlimited mode?
While you are working on a puzzle, your answers, hints, and elapsed time are saved in your browser, so refreshing that exact puzzle link will not lose your place. Loading a fresh /unlimited page or pressing New puzzle starts a brand-new ladder — Unlimited does not keep a history of past puzzles the way the archive does for the daily puzzle.
Is Unlimited mode free to play?
Yes. Unlimited mode is completely free, with no login and no app to install — the same as every puzzle on this site.
Can I share a specific Unlimited puzzle with someone?
Yes. Every Unlimited puzzle has a shareable link with its seed built in, so sending that link gives whoever opens it the exact same ladder you were solving.
